Printed Matter Aphorism of the State
Selected group exhibition curated by Killian O'Dwyer including work by professional artist Angela Gilmour.
This is an exhibition that reviews the idea of virtue and human experience through the making of publications and artist books. Titled after the philosophical and political writings of early 9th Century theoretician Al-Farabi, Aphorisms of the State looks at investigations between morality, action and artistic decision-making by artists and designers, and the temporal state of produced bound publications as a resolved or analytical art form and the subsequent point of departure for the reader to follow their train of thought. The exhibition looks at use of methodology around political, situational and creative expression by artists, and how they rationalise historic or potential moments onto paper.
Exhibition runs from 22nd to 29th September Monday to Friday 9.30-5.30 at Cork Printmakers Gallery, Wandesford Quay, Cork City.
