Here & Now - Cork Midsummer Festival

This exhibition was selected by Andrew Folan, Head of Fine Print, NCAD, following an open call to artist members of Cork Printmakers. It features twenty four prints, all works on paper, one print by each artist. Participating artists: Johnny Bugler, Craig Carry, Dominic Fee, Debbie Godsell, Angela Gilmour, Sean Hanrahan, Sally Hewetson, Jo Kelley, Fiona Kelly, Miriam Hurley, Eileen Kennedy , Paul La Rocque, Jessie Malone, Peter McMorris, Donna McNamara, Grainne Nagle, Noelle Noonan, Shane O’ Driscoll, Kim Roberts, Angie Shanahan, Nikki Tait, Sylvia Taylor, Kate Walsh & Susan Walsh. Cork Printmakers celebrated twenty five years since its foundation in 2016 and marked the occasion with the 25 exhibition at The Atrium, Cork City Hall and the launch of its newly designed website and mobile POP UP Shop & Press. Earlier this year, artist members were invited to put forward prints that reflect their current practice and to consider their artistic position in the Here & Now. This exhibition also provides delegates of the FIRST EDITION Print Symposium and the public, with the opportunity to view the wide variety of being created currently at Cork Printmakers’ Studio. The subject matter of the artwork spans explorations of personal and national identity; investigations of abstraction; figurative studies; examination of landscape – literal, internal, sometimes intangible and more. The artists have utilised the full range of printmaking facilities available at Cork Printmakers in creating this work, using techniques and combinations thereof including; etching, screen-printing, photo etching, relief printmaking, lithography, collography, monoprinting and digital printing.
